In a continuation of recent incidents, the Border Security Forces (BSF) successfully thwarted another attempt of drug smuggling from Pakistan to India. On Saturday, BSF troops disabled a drone near Rai village in Amritsar, Punjab, along the International Border, which was carrying suspected narcotics. This comes just days after the recovery of a Pakistani drone carrying approximately 2.5 kg of suspected narcotics in Punjab.
According to the Punjab Frontier's PRO, the BSF troops noticed an Indian airspace violation by a drone originating from the Pakistan side at around 4 am on June 10. Simultaneously, they heard a sound indicating something had fallen in a farming field near Rai village. Adhering to their standard procedures, the BSF troops immediately responded to the situation.
Upon searching the area, the BSF team discovered a large packet wrapped in yellow adhesive tape attached to a hook in the farming field on the outskirts of Village Rai. When they opened the packet, they found five packets containing a total of 5.5 kg of suspected heroin, all wrapped in yellow adhesive tape.
The prompt and alert actions of the BSF troops, along with the assistance of the police force, played a crucial role in tracking down and recovering the smuggled contraband. The recovered item resembled the heroin found in a previous incident, where the BSF team recovered a similar packet wrapped in yellow adhesive tape from a farming field near Reasr Kakkar village in Amritsar. In both cases, the packets were attached with hooks and ropes.
These successful interceptions highlight the constant vigilance and efficiency of the BSF in curbing illicit activities and maintaining border security. The authorities suspect the involvement of organized smuggling networks in these attempts, emphasizing the ongoing challenges in countering the cross-border narcotics trade.
Such incidents underscore the need for continued collaboration and intelligence-sharing among security forces to effectively combat drug smuggling and ensure the safety and well-being of the region's inhabitants. The BSF's relentless efforts serve as a strong deterrent against these unlawful activities, protecting the nation's integrity and security.
