In a shocking incident, Pedro Mota, a Dutch traveler and YouTuber, was subjected to assault by an individual in Bengaluru's Chickpet area while filming his vlog. However, the YouTuber managed to escape from the perpetrator amidst the busy shopping lanes of the area.
Currently in Bengaluru, Pedro Mota published his vlog on Sunday, where he recounted his distressing experience in the capital of Karnataka. In the video description, he wrote, "My exploration of the Bengaluru area got off to a bad start as an enraged man attacked me, forcefully grabbing and twisting my hand and arm, pursuing me as I tried to flee." The video footage shows the YouTuber recording his vlog when a man, appearing to be a shopkeeper, intercepted him and questioned, "Ye Kya Hai?" (What is this?). The accused then proceeded to grip the YouTuber's hand and attempted to snatch his camera, while Pedro pleaded, "Please let me go, sir." Fortunately, Pedro managed to escape the scene. In the video, he later claimed that the man had attempted to break his finger. The video has since gone viral on social media, with calls for the Bengaluru police to take action against the perpetrator.
Subsequently, the Bengaluru police apprehended the individual seen harassing Pedro Mota in the video, as reported by news agency ANI. The person identified as Navab Hayath Sharif has been arrested, and a case has been registered against him under Section 92 of the Karnataka Police Act, stated Laxman B Nimbargi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru (West).
It is worth noting that in December of the previous year, a South Korean YouTuber was reportedly subjected to harassment by two men on a street in Mumbai while she was live streaming. The video of the incident gained significant attention, leading the Mumbai Police to arrest Mobeen Chand Mohammad Shaikh and Mohammad Naqeeb Sadrealam Ansari. An FIR was filed against them under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. The Ministry of External Affairs in India had also assured the Korean YouTuber of complete protection in response to the incident.
