The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had suggested a hybrid model for the Asia Cup 2023, which the International Cricket Council (ICC) has now approved. However, in recent days, the PCB had stated that if India doesn't come to our country to play the Asia Cup, then our team won't go to India to participate in the World Cup 2023. But now, PCB has taken a U-turn on this stance. While the official schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023 has not been announced yet, it is being speculated that on October 15, the teams of India and Pakistan could face each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Just a few days ago, the PCB had said that our team won't play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. They had cited security concerns as the reason. Now, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi has strongly criticized the PCB for their decision. Afridi questions why they are refusing to play on the Ahmedabad pitch. "Is it spewing fire or haunted? Go, play, and win," he sarcastically remarked.

Play against Pakistan in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata instead - Najam Sethi

It is worth noting that ICC officials recently visited Pakistan. Chairman of the PCB's Management Committee, Najam Sethi, had requested ICC officials that Pakistan doesn't want to play at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Along with this, Sethi requested that the matches against Pakistan should be played in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. However, he also mentioned that if the knockout matches are scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, then Pakistan is ready to play there.
